A workshop for anyone interested in exploring our queer bodies and discussing beauty standards- open for all gender

In this community workshop, we exchange about what beauty (ideals) mean to us and explore our emotions around this topic. You are invited to dive into creative exercises and chat in small groups. Through writing, painting and reflecting we welcome an embodied change of perspective on beauty standards. How can we be more tender with ourselves?

You can connect to other queers in the shared struggle of finding your way. Let’s tame this beast together! 🙂

We would like to exchange with you about beauty standards – how they affect us, how they show up in our lives and how we engage with them.

Among the variety of exercises we will offer, there will be a lot of space for you to talk with other participants. To give you an idea which topics we can discuss together, we are listing some examples here:

• How do beauty standards show up in my day-to-day life?
• What does beauty mean to me personally?
• (How) Have my perceptions of beauty changed along with my identity as a queer or trans person?
• How do we talk about beauty in queer communities?
• What possibilities are there to break open the binary of beautiful and ugly?

What to bring

• paper, colors ( what you have at home: crayons, water colors, pencils…)
• pen, journal
• a comfortable spot to rest
• anything else that makes you feel comfortable

Workshop Facilitators

Nima, 25, is a youth worker, dancer, poet and body painter, passionate about bringing the magic of artistic expression to his fellow humans – especially his trans and (post) migrant kin. He loves the colour pink, the little ambient lights in his room and being silent, creative and child-like with others. The topics that are moving within them currently are our connection to this planet as our home and the body as a playground – as ours to reclaim.

Kuem (he/ they), fat trans*masc PoC, is a trained Sexological Bodyworker, Cranio-Sakral therapist and Somatic Coach. He accompanies clients discovering their body and sensuality in one on one sessions as well as body centered workshops. He is especially interested in working with trans*/queer /BIPoC communities. Paramount for Kuem are curiosity, openness and commitment to the process. Kuem wants to initiate playful encounters with oneself.

For who: All queers between 14 – 27*, who want to exchange about beauty ideals and explore their emotions around this topic. Open to all gender. *If you are younger or older and want to participate contact jasmin@lambda-online.de
